Gidi Giants of Lagos came top at the first phase of the West africa basketball classics held in lome, Togo which finished over the weekend.
Five teams in Gidi Giants & Kwara Falcons, both from Nigeria, ASPAC of Benin Republic, Swallows of Togo and GRA Braves of Ghana made the trip to the togolese capital for the championship held at the Stade omnisports.
Nigeria representative at the 2023 Basketball Africa League, Kwara Falcons finished the phase on third spot with two wins, two defeats while ASPAC of Benin Republic managed by former Nigeria national team coach, Aderemi Adewunmi won three, losing one, claiming second spot.
Ghanaian side, GRA Braves and Swallows of Togo were the weeping teams.
The organisers spearheaded by Nigeria Olumide Oyedeji expressed satisfaction with the first phase while noting there are room for improvement in the second phase of the competition billed for Benin Republic in April.
