The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has confirmed receipt of a petition from A.U. Mustapha, SAN, over alleged exploitative airfare practices by Overland Airways on the Ilorin route.
In the petition, dated August 4, 2025, the Kwara-born Senior Advocate accused the airline of imposing discriminatory and exorbitant ticket prices on the Lagos–Ilorin–Abuja corridor. He alleged that Overland Airways, being the sole commercial operator at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, has taken advantage of its monopoly to fix fares at unreasonable levels.
Mustapha highlighted discrepancies in ticket pricing, particularly on flights where Ilorin serves only as a stopover, describing the practice as unfair to passengers traveling to and from the state.
Acknowledging the complaint in a letter dated August 21, 2025, FCCPC’s Deputy Director of Surveillance and Investigation, Mrs. F.O.I. Nwachukwu, assured that the commission would conduct a thorough investigation and ensure a fair, timely resolution.
