Sources from Morocco has said the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January-February could now be held in the summer.
With CAF agreement in principle for the event to be held in July-August 2025 in Morocco to avoid interfering with the first 32-team Club World Cup scheduled for June 2025.
President Patrice Motsepe hasn’t said anything on rumoured postponement.
Qualification for the competition is yet to start, as preliminary round is scheduled from March 18 to 26, according to the CAF calendar.
The latest development wouldn’t be the first time the competition will be postponed. In two previous editions, the 2021 was played in January-February 2022 in Cameroon, and recently the 2023 won by Ivory Coast on home soil was held in 2024.
