Carribean nation, Haiti continue to battle with criminal gangs who has seized the capital Port-au-Prince which has resulted in the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel, marking a new turn in the country’s political instability.
After Caribbean nations, UN representatives, and delegates from countries including France and United States all gathered in Jamaica, in the bid to solve Haiti’s crisis.
Prime Minister, Henry is currently unable to go back to Port-au-Prince, staying in Puerto Rico.
The assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in 2021 hqs added to the disenfranchised in Haiti Political system which resulted in no election since 2016.
As efforts intensify to address the problems, including Henry’s agreement in Nairobi to deploy Kenyan police officers to Haiti, it situation remains unsolved.
In Jamaica capital, Kingston, talks are ongoing to finalise a draft to make Henry to hand over to a transitional council representative of Haitian civil society.
Before his resignation, he confirmed the government’s resolve to create a transitional presidential council, with plans for members to be selected in consultation with various sectors of national life.
