Former Court of Appeal President and pioneer chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi was recognised for his unwavering commitments to the judiciary during his years of service.
The late Jurist was conferred an award by the Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, for the late judge notable contributions to the justice system and significant inputs towards the fulfilment of the institute during its the 3rd conferment Fellowship Awards held at the National Judicial Institute, on Wednesday 15th, May, 2024 in Abuja.
Justice M.M Akanbi served as president of the Court of Appeal between 1992-1999 before his appointment as ICPC Boss in 2000.
The Institute administrator, Justice Salisu Abdullahi, stated that those chosen for the award conferment are outstanding luminaries whose influence and achievements have extended beyond the Nigerian Judiciary.
Other Jurists and legal practitioners who received the awards are; Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, Justice Mary Peter-Odili, Justice Musa Dattijo-Mohammed, Appeal Court President, Monica Dongban-Mensem, Late Justice Mamman Nasir and Muhammad Akanbi.
Justice Umar Abdullahi, Justice Isa Salami, Justice Kulu Aliyu, Justice Rosaline Bozimo, late Justice Kate Abiri, AGF Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) complete the list.
