Arrangements have been put in place which will see Lagos state becomes the first African city to host the world’s first all-electric powerboat race series – E1 Championship come October 4–5, 2025.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the submission in France, Monaco after attending the championship.
An Elated Sanwo-Olu said the competition would break grounds and highlights the states growing role in clean energy, sustainability, and innovative marine transport.
He added that the event will enhance Lagos eco-conscious hub and show its culture, energy, and global potential.
Activities had earlier started in June to have africa biggest electric-powered water transport initiatives when commencement of the implementation phase of the €410 million Omi Eko project, which was targeted at restructuring the inland waterways into a vital component of the city’s urban mobility system which is scheduled for completion in 2030.
