Mati Diop, writer and director of Dahomey, was at the red carpet at the Berlin Film Festival on Sunday for the world premiere of her documentary alongside Gildas Adannou, Habib Ahandessi and Joséa Guedje.
The French-Senegalese director Mati Diop documentary “Dahomey,” which explore colonization through the return of stolen artifacts runned by colonial forces from France and returned to Benin Republic, was among this year’s entry in the competition.
Berlin Film Festival started its 74th edition on Thursday with the premiere screening of Small Things Like These, the Irish drama starring Oscar-nominated Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy.
The lineup features films from international filmmakers including Olivier Assayas, Mati Diop, Hong Sangsoo, Bruno Dumont and Abderrahmane Sissako.
