Amidst the ongoing crisis rocking senegal presidential elections, authorities have bemoaned that the election should hold as earlier scheduled rather than December, ECOWAS said.

Senegal President, Macky Sall had publicly noted that the Feb 25 elections has been postponed owing to an ongoing crisis involving the parliament and the judiciary arm of the government following disagreement of the choice of candidate.

Lawmakers in the opposition were restricted from voting on Monday after the parliament shifted the election to December which was widely rejected by rivals describing the process a coup.

The incumbent tenure is expected to end on April 2.
