Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Monday, welcome her first female prime minister in Judith Suminwa Tuluka in a move that satisfied President
Felix Tshisekedi campaign promises, offering hope for greater inclusivity and female representation in governance.
During her inauguration ceremony, Tuluka affirmed the need to seek peace and development in affected regions especially the eastern provinces while expressing concerns for victims affected by the violence, promising to established a lasting solutions to the crisis.
The eastern provinces – one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises region, harbours minerals and resources but has faces violence which has led to the fleeing of civilians, with armed groups fighting for control despite the United Nations efforts to contain the conflict.
Judith Suminwa Tuluka, who had formerly served as a planning minister, faces the uphill task of negotiating with various political parties, will look to move congo towards stability and prosperity.
President Tshisekedi, had accused Rwanda of supporting rebel groups activities in eastern Congo, despite denials by Rwandan authorities, he reaffirmed his commitment to tackle the crisis.
In a similar development, the U.S. State Department has stressed on the need for cooperations and the withdrawal of foreign troops from Congolese and Rwanda with a diplomatic discussion.
