Ivory Coast came from behind to clinch their third African cup of Nation title against West African Neighbour Nigeria in final game played at the 60,000-capacity Alassane Ouattara Stadium.

It was the Super Eagles who took a first half lead through William Troost-Ekong thirty-eight minute header before the host nation went level in similar fashion when the unmarked Frank Kessie nods home Adingra’s corner .

From that moment, Ivory Coast seize the momentum against a nigeria side that ran out of steam, eventually grabbing the winner with Sebastian Haller toe poking home from close range in the 81st minute.

Jose Peseiro, Nigeria coach said afterwards that “We played a fantastic tournament, but today Côte d’Ivoire was better,” The pressure got to his players but I must commended the home team for their grit.

Ivory Coast, Interim coach, Emerse Fae said ” it was an extraordinary tournament for the whole nation”.
