A suspected murderer has been reapprehended seven days after he had flee away from police custody.
Identified as Kevin Adam Kinyanjui Kangethe who was awaiting extradition on a Massachusetts warrant for killing his girlfriend at a Boston airport.
He however was rearrested at the extreme end Nairobi, in Embulbul, Kajiado County on Tuesday evening attempting to seek refuge at one of his family base.
Police chief, Adamson Bungei confirmed the rearrested of the culprit, reassuring citizens that the force is unfettered in discharging it duties following frequent accusations that the police is one of the most corrupt institution in the country, disregarding rumours that the officers on duty had been tipped for Kangethe’s escape.
Four officers on duty at the scene have been suspended, awaiting disciplinary action and may face prosecution.
According to sources, Kangethe was said to have renounced his U.S. citizenship which allowed the court to approved a police application for him to be detained for 30 days while the extradition issue was heard.
Kangethe, allegedly, kill his girlfriend, Mbitu, a health care aide in Halifax, who was last seen leaving work Oct. 30 and reported missing by her family.
