Ghana President Akuffo Addo Shakes up Cabinet

As Ghanaians prepare themselves for the general elections in december which will see the end of President Nana Akufo-Addo second and last term in office, the incumbent has made changes to his cabinet with the replacement of finance minister, Ofori – Atta.

Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State, will takeover the ministry of finance from Ofori-Atta.

The later was previously deputy energy minister responsible for the petroleum sector.

Cedis crashed in recent times while Inflation has rose above 50% which prompted protest against Ofori both from protesters, oppositions and ruling parties but managed to survive it.

He was in charge of Ghana’s debt restructuring programs after the West African gold, oil and cocoa producer defaulted on most of its external debt in December 2022.

His removal has not been attach to any peculiar reasons but the ongoing reform has seen 12 other ministers replaced.

In a similar event, Information minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, will now manage the housing ministry, was replaced by Fatimah Abubakar, while Ambrose Dery – interior minister portfolio will return to the office of the president.
