African Union has undermined Israel’s activities in Gaza, disclosing that the ongoing situation should be put to an abrupt end.
During a meeting held in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa over the weekend, Chairman of African Union commission Moussa Faki, orchestrated that Israel has violated international humanitarian law with their activities, accusing them of having exterminated Gaza’s inhabitants.
Similarly, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, in his address, with strong words, bemoaned isreal attacks describing it as “unprecedented in the history of mankind,”
Azali Assoumani, president of the Comoros and the outgoing chairperson of the African Union, welcomed with open arms, South Africa plight against Israel at the International Court of Justice, condemning “the Israel unlawful act.
A large population of Gaza’s residents are hungry owing to the war, which started with Hamas’ assault into Israel on Oct. 7, where militants killed close to 1,200 mostly civilians, abducted 250 in the process.
In its self defence, Israel has denies committing genocide in Gaza, claiming hamas forces are the targets while civilians were untouch, adding Hamas way of encroaching civilian areas has causes few harms to civilians.
A member of Israeli delegate was evicted from the plenary during last year’s AU summit following unrest over the country’s observer status at the continental body.
Other major issues raised were conflicts and the resurgence of coups in African with Senegal’s election problems, unrest in eastern Congo, Sudan, the Sahel, and Libya.
Key members of the summit, agitated for a revival of African solidarity and Pan-Africanism to move past the many challenges facing Africa.
