A called for peace and prayers not to forget crisis in African countries was made by pope Francis over the weekend during the Angelus prayer.
The pope called on the Sudanese military and military groups to end conflicts which has span over ten months, killing at least 12,000 people and forced 1.5 million people to flee into neighbouring countries.
The pope called for prayers for defenceless populations, destruction of infrastructure, insecurity, which has rise in the province of Cabo Delgado, in Mozambique, where the Catholic mission of Our Lady of Africa in Mazeze was set on fire.
The province of Cabo Delgado has been rattled for 6 years by insurgency led by fighters linked to the Islamic State group.
Conflict-monitoring organization, stats show that the crisis had claimed 4,737 lives, mostly civilians, with a millions fleeing for safety.
“Let us not forget: war is a defeat, always. Wherever there is warfare, the populations are exhausted, they are tired of war, which is always pointless and inconclusive, and brings only death, only destruction, and will never lead to the solution to problems,” he concluded.
