DRC lures investor to improve minning

Democratic Republic of Congo will look to improve its mineral sector with the aide of modern investors.

 

During the 30th edition of the Mining Indaba forum in South Africa, Miguel Kashal Katemb, Director General of the DRC’s Regulatory Authority for Subcontracting in the Private Sector bemoaned his country’s willingness to work with investors while agitating for the preference for partners who align with its vision of sustainable economic growth.

He orchestrated Canadian mining giant Ivanhoe Mines as an example of a modern investor, expressing confidence that with the right partners, there will be benefits for everyone in the distribution of the country’s mining riches.

It sinks in line with President Félix Tshisekedi‘s objectives to create job and build and entrepreneurial society.

Despite facing crisis related to illegal development, corruption, plundering by force, Labour conditions,
DRC’s mining sector has an
untapped mineral wealth valued at $24 trillion.
