Rebels forces attacked a displacement camp with bombs in eastern Congo’s North Kivu, which killed three civilians with eight others injured, as the unrest in the region cause protest.
The rebels, having links to neighbouring Rwanda, sent missiles to the Zaina camp, 16 miles from the city of Goma.
However, the M23 rebels fail to acknowledge the attack but wittingly confirm on Tuesday that they were heading towards Sake, near Goma.
A statement by Congo’s government and United Nations experts, noted the M23 group has backing from Rwanda despite denial by Rwanda government.
The crisis has resulted in thousands fleeing their homes to Goma as action buildup with hospitals filled with injured civilians despite limited medical care.
They warned that major roads around Goma were cut off by gunfire. Massive protest took place in Kinshasa as foreign embassies were targeted in their failure to control the violence.
Bintou Keita, U.N. official in Congo, described the situation as unacceptable as their troops continue to leave the country ahead of a December deadline.
Over a million people have been displaced by the fighting since November according to Mercy Corps aid group together with 6.9 million who already fled their homes in one of the world’s biggest humanitarian crises.
