South sudan: Electoral commission optimistic on fair elections, hold seminar

Abednego Akol Chol sais, Chairman of South Sudan’s electoral Commission has aired his opinion of having a free, fair, and credible elections.

He made the submission at the interactive session of the United Nations Mission in the nation and the UN Development Programme held at the capital Juba, which was also meant to familiarize members of the National Elections Commission and other stakeholders on the electoral process.

The country will held its first election this year’s, Abednego claim Success can only be achieved when everyone shows utmost concerned about civic and political education and voter registration.

The country has seen frequent postponement of elections following wars before a peace deal in 2018
South Sudan became independent in 2011.
