A new statement from United Nations World Food Programme has warned that the 10-month long war in Sudan has caused high rate of malnutrition in the country, resulting in the world’s largest displacement crisis.
Close to 25 million people are face with hardship, hunger and malnutrition amidst the unrest in Sudan which has widely spread across the continent.
United Nations WFP has also been blamed for not committing lots of resources to tackle the humanitarian crisis.
Annabel Symington, a spokesperson for the WFP, says close to thousands of relatives have been forced to scourge into the borders of Chad and South Sudan while a roughly estimated 1.8 million escape to become refuge in neighbouring Chad and South Sudan.
The increasing rate of Malnutrition has been rampant among children in temporary camps with fleeing families now racking up 35% of those people with catastrophic levels of hunger, despite only accounting for 3% of the population.
About 4 per cent of children under the ages of 5 crossing the border into South Sudan are malnourished upon entering the country while 18 million are apparently hungry, as 3.8 million Sudanese children under 5 years old are malnourished, according to the WFP.
